5/15/2007
Athletes for Hope announced today that Stanford Financial Group and Genworth Financial have joined in the quest to "pass the passion" for philanthropic work. These corporations are the first of just 10 companies that will be invited to become founding corporate partners. Athletes for Hope was founded by an elite group of 12 professional athletes who hail from different sports but share a common passion for philanthropy. These Founding Athletes have come together to ignite a movement of giving back. Athletes for Hope, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, was created to help athletes, their fans and the corporate community do more to make the world a better place. "We think what Athletes for Hope is doing is terrific," said Suzanne Hamm, president, Stanford Foundation. "It represents a unique philanthropic model for engaging athletes and fans to make a real difference in local communities across the United States. We’re glad to partner with this unique initiative and to be part of a movement that helps us all do well by doing good." Stanford Financial Group has made it a priority to "give back" and strengthen communities through its philanthropic commitments. The company looks for unique charitable endeavors that allow it to partner with effective organizations and other partners who share its vision for social responsibility
