Stanford Financial Group To Sponsor AJGA Event

7/25/2007

Memphis, Tenn. —Stanford Financial Group, a global group of financial services companies, has become a sponsor of the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA), sponsoring the national organization’s annual junior golf championship. Stanford will serve as Presenting Sponsor of the David Gossett Junior Championship in 2007 and take over as Title Sponsor in 2008.

This year’s event will take place July 30-Aug. 2 at TPC Southwind in Memphis, the home of the PGA TOUR’s Stanford St. Jude Championship held in June. The David Gossett Junior Championship is an 84-player, 54-hole event that features the nation’s top junior boys and girls, ages 12-18. The first round will be held Tuesday, July 31, with the second and final rounds being played Wednesday, Aug. 1 and Thursday, Aug. 2, respectively. The event is free for the public.

The 2008 Stanford St. Jude Junior Championship is set to take place July 28-31 at TPC Southwind.

"We’re glad to be able to support the AJGA and this significant event," said Suzanne Hamm, Chief Marketing Officer/North America for Stanford. "We’ve expanded our footprint in the game of golf with title sponsorship of the Memphis PGA TOUR event as well as by partnering with key professionals like Vijay Singh and David Toms who’ve become Stanford ambassadors. But we know that you don’t get to the PGA TOUR without the proper training and competition as a young adult. This tournament and the work of the AJGA is vitally important in grooming the champions that will become tomorrow’s golf legends. That’s worthy of our support, but when you add in the fact that the event benefits St. Jude, our corporate charity of choice, we had no hesitation in saying yes."

"The AJGA is very pleased to announce this new agreement with Stanford, which will ensure the future of our tournament in Memphis," said Jason Etzen, AJGA Executive Vice President of Corporate Partnerships. "We have conducted an event at TPC Southwind since 2005 and every time, it has been a great success. We look forward to continuing on that track with the assistance of Stanford."

The American Junior Golf Association, based in Braselton, Ga., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the overall growth and development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf. The AJGA, the largest Association of its kind, has an annual junior membership (boys and girls ages 12-18) of more than 5,000 junior golfers from 49 states and 30 foreign countries.

Titleist, the AJGA’s National Sponsor, has been the catalyst and driving force behind the Association’s success since 1989. Rolex Watch USA, which is in its third decade of support, became the inaugural AJGA Premier Partner in 2004. In 2007, after 12 years of support, Polo Ralph Lauren became the AJGA’s second Premier Partner.

AJGA alumni have risen to the top of amateur, collegiate and professional golf. More than 160 former AJGA juniors currently play on the PGA and LPGA Tours and have compiled more than 300 wins. AJGA alumni include Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Jim Furyk, Stewart Cink, Davis Love III, Cristie Kerr, Pat Hurst, Paula Creamer, Brittany Lincicome, Morgan Pressel and Julieta Granada.
