Soccer Sensation Michael Owen Inks Endorsement Deal with Stanford

Houston, TX (April 24, 2008) – Stanford Financial Group today announced that UK soccer star Michael Owen has signed an endorsement agreement with the company to serve as a global ambassador for Stanford’s expanding worldwide presence. The agreement with Owen, who is a client of Wasserman Media Group, includes personal appearances, cooperative philanthropic initiatives and inclusion in Stanford’s internal and external branding elements. Specific financial terms of the endorsement deal were not disclosed.
Owen, who is captain of England’s Newcastle United soccer team, plays as a striker and has enjoyed a hugely successful and high-profile career at both the club and international level. The 28-year old father of three is regarded as one of the most naturally gifted and prolific strikers of his generation and is best known for his blistering pace, precise finishing and intriguing predatory instincts around the goal. Owen is currently England's fourth highest scorer of all time, with 40 goals in 88 games for his country, and is England's leading competitive goal scorer with 228 goals in 401 games for the three clubs for which he has played – his current team, Newcastle United, as well as Liverpool and Real Madrid. Owen was named “BBC Sports Personality of the Year” and won the coveted “European Player of the Year” in 2001. In 2004, Owen was selected by Pelé as one of the FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) 125 greatest living soccer players.
