Polo
Polo, the 2,500-year-old game once known as the sport of kings is said to combine the techniques of "riding like a Comanche, thinking like a chess player and hitting like a golf pro while four players try to break your kneecaps." Stanford's footprint in sponsoring polo includes a venue sponsorship with the historic Houston Polo Club beginning in 1998; as well as title venue sponsorship of the Stanford Field at the International Polo Club in Palm Beach. Stanford has been title sponsor of America's oldest and most coveted polo match, the USPA Silver Cup, since 1999; and is title sponsor of the International Polo Season at the Houston Polo Club, including the USPA Silver Cup and the Texas Open Polo Invitational.
Stanford is also a sponsor of the USPA U.S. Open Polo Championship, the USPA Governor's Cup, and various local and regional polo matches throughout the United States. Reflecting our international presence, Stanford is an ongoing sponsor of the Sandhurst Charity Polo Day hosted by Prince Charles in aid of the British Forces Foundation at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
